SUCCESS!

Bruno likes to lay on my shoes <3

I always have such dirty feet after walking outside all day in flip flops!

New shirts! One for $7 and one for $5
OK, so last night we had a party at the school called the Crash party or, Fiesta de Crash. It was pretty fun. All of the local Tico kids come to hang out with their friends and most of us gringos went too. There was lots of music and some food and drinks. Many, many of the people had beer and it was the weirdest thing to me. We were at a school event and they were selling beer to the kids...huh. But it like wasn't a big deal to anyone. Also, TONS of the ticos smoke. It's so popular here! I swear I inhaled like 12 cigarettes worth of 2nd hand smoke haha. BUT OHHHH WEELLL. And, I met my first Tico kids! YEAH! SUCCESS! Normally the ticos are "muy timidos" or very shy. But like I said before, I was scared to just walk up and say hi with my limited Spanish. But, as I was getting ready to leave the party last night these  boys just walked up to a couple of us girls and said hi! It was awesome. It was definately broken conversations because of the language barrier (not to mention the really loud music) but it was fun. One of the boys knew English really well and the others knew very little. The one that did know it said he learned some in school but for the most part he learned it from TV and MOvies!!! I need to be watching more Spanish tv apparently! :P

For the most part we just stood around chatting, but then there was some dacing (Latin Dancing=THE BEST) And at one point I just heard this sound that was like a cannon going off, but it was drums! There was this whole dance crew that came in the courtyard and did this dance! There were like 4 big drums (like the people carry on their chests in band) and dancers too! There were boys and girls and they all had on blue and silver and white sparkly outfits....Well, one of the boys had on a big head things that reminded me of Mardi Gras (along with some make up!). They were cool. Although I have NEVER seen people move their bodies, and their hips, like that in my life! At many points they woudl grab people from the audience to dance with them and then do a little conga line around the group---I got grabbed every time. AHAH. But it was fun :) So, inherently I stayed too long and had to stay up late and half-way do my homework--but shhhh it's fine :)

We are having our Spanish mid-terms tomorrow. Weird huh? Midterms after 2 weeks because the classes only go for a month! I do like my class, but the teacher doesnt really explain things the way I learn. It's more of a review class. Pray I do well on the midterm! I gotta study soon!

Well, the adventure of today is this: my friend Kelsey is going to get her nose pierced!!! YEAH! We are headed down to the mall in a few hours to get it done. This should be interesting in Spanish...

Also, I am craving dairy. Im not sure why. We have milk with cereal but that's like the only time!!! So, I went to the store to buy cheese today and guess what. IT IS SOOOOO EXPENSIVE! A litte tiny block of chedder was about 8 bucks. I ended up buying 8 slices of cheese for like $2.50.....But it was worth it :)
